HTP Product Line-2015
On September 24th, HTP (Heat Transfer Products) showcased their upcoming 2015 hydronic heating line-up at the Marriott hotel in Trumbull Connecticut. Professional heating contractors, mechanical companies and engineers working with Shelton Winnelson (the leading supplier of HTP equipment in CT) were invited to learn about HTP’s 2015 water heating line-up. Attendants also took part in continuing education classes, about the new upcoming plumbing code changes, and higher efficiencies for requirements for domestic water heating devices- and resulting plumbing code changes taking place in 2015.
Hosted by Emerson Swan; a team of guys took us through a detailed tour of the new HTP products line. We learned HTP will offer numerous high-efficiency boilers for 2015, and 2 different tankless combi models (floor standing & wall mounted). HTP also has a new combi “tank type” high-efficiency boiler, called the Versa Hydro (I really like this unit) because this particular model is a little larger/ more robust, than the more compact “tankless models” and requires less maintenance than typical high-efficiency boilers. Few maintenance requirements will be the key to the success of the Versa Hydro.
Looking into the future, high-efficiency boilers that feature Low Maintenance requirements will be the types dominating the market in 3-5 years. I feel within the next 3-5 years we will see a high percentage of the poorly installed, inexpensive combi boilers start failing. I believe informed homeowners will choose a high efficiency boiler (like the Versa Hydro) that feature low maintenance requirements compared to conventional “tankless combi” types dominating the combi market today.

We were learned about the internal parts such as; heat exchangers, PC boards, three-way-valves and other upgraded parts and new features for 2015. We also learned what products/ models, were specifically engineered for each, of many different residential and commercial water heating applications, as well as, the benefits and maintenance required for each. HTP has a high-efficiency water heating product for every application, and its wize to choose the best product suited for each particular application demand. Matching the best products for each particular commercial application insures choosing a product that can handle the workload and offer the longest service life. Selecting the right HTP product for your business or investment property is easy when working with us.
The new 2015 HTP tankless combi boiler- domestic water heater is a well designed machine.
The EFT Tankless Combination appliance comes in two versions, Wall-Hung or Floor/Free Standing.
Generally speaking, I like combi boilers that don’t have a 3-way valve, like the Intellihot Combi x250i. However, the HTP EFT has a very robust 3-way valve, compared to other competitors. Lower end combi boilers on the market (Navien) have 3-way valves, that over time without the proper maintenance get stuck (stop working).
The HTP modulating gas condensing combi boiler has up to 94% AFUE. The EFT Combi condensing boiler is made of a durable high grade stainless steel fire tube heat exchanger and a stainless steel indirect storage tank which eliminates temperature fluctuation. The hi-fin heat exchanger provides high efficiency and a low pressure drop. This wall hung combination appliance saves homeowners money on operating expenses, reduces overall installation costs, and takes up less space than traditional space heating and hot water appliances.
Below is Jeff talking about the new HTP combi boiler- water heater.
Food For Thought: The most efficient heating system at the lowest installation price point is in most cases is a Wall-Hung/ Combi Boiler, but all (low mass) combi boilers such as the Navien Combi require regular and yearly maintenance running at $200-300 per year, at bare minimum. Important to remember, HTP offers high-efficiency heating products (Versa Hydro) that requires very little to no maintenance, at only a slightly higher price point than a the popular Navien combi boiler. When making an important selection for any particular heating system, maintenance is (should be) a very big consideration. NOTE: low mass boilers & combi boilers connected to Black Iron Pipes need to test and treat the water within the heating system to remove matalic and magnetized TDS (total dissolved solids) to ensure proper longevity and warranty coverage. This “black iron pipe issue” is especially true if you are using Variable Speed Pumps or ECM pumps, as the magnetized components of these new high efficiency pumps can get “UN-magnetized” over time, from metals within the sediment flowing throughout the heating system’s water. Over time the magnetic molecules/ sediment within the heating system’s water interferes with the “pre magnetized” parts of the variable speed pumps. Avoiding maintenance with a combi boiler will only lower system effectiveness, lower efficiency, increase service calls requirements, lead to more frequent part failures, and more critical maintenance requirements over the longer term.
HTP has a few high-efficiency commercial water heaters were on the menu for 2015
HTP has a high efficiency water heating options for every price point, venting option, and Emerson Swan provides the engineering required for even the most advanced commercial installations. If you are a commercial building or multifamily owner looking for a new heating system, look no further. We can offer many free services you require to Get The Ball Rolling. Before anything else, we need to find out exactly what the building owners goals are. Then we visit the building to take a heat load assessment. At that time we are also walking around the building gathering information for a quick feasibility study. Depending on the fuel type available, venting availability, budget, available incentives, among other factors we design a plan that makes financial sense.
